when & how
As I was going over the mails in my n@w yahoogroup, I saw one post submitted by Mec.
She gave this question: when and how did you know that he is already
the ONE that you will spend the rest of your life with... I thought I had written about our love story already before in my other blog, so I tried to search for it. I thought I wrote it sometime in 2005, prior to our church wedding, yun pala, it was on written in my 2006 archives. Here is the article, which I wrote... it's How We Started.
Going back to the question, regarding when and how did I know that it was really him... despite a year of being in a long distance relationship, G never missed sending me letters through snail mails and letters through emails. This was still different from the cards that he'd sent during our monthsary. Then from time to time,we'd have our ym chats, he also sends text messages and did some calls. From this alone, I knew that he was exerting a lot of effort just to maintain our communication and let our relationship work. My friends would often envy me because not anyone of their boyfriends, did the same thing. Some would just text, while others will just rely on the girl's call...
When I got home from abroad, he made sure that he would meet my parents. From Laguna, he went to Isabela for the first time. He just rode the bus going to Isabela and texted me from time to time. Before he arrived in our house, his cellphone was already battery empty. We thought that he'd get lost but he didn't.
The night he arrived, we had a serious talk. He looked really nervous while we were talking. Then he told me how much he loved me... and while crying, he asked me if I would marry him. I was anticipating that he'd ask me about it but I was not expecting that he'd ask me that night. With the way he looked (haggard, tired from travel but with sparkling eyes), I know that he is the person that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I knew then and there that he will do everything for me and he will take care of me, more than the way that my father did... he did and he still does.
Almost 4 years after the 'proposal', we are still together. Helping each other, standing by each other and still loving each other...
