fruits of labor
Whenever we celebrate graduation in our family, we feel that we are moving one step further.
My grandparents never got the chance to go to college. They were very poor during their youth and they only finished elementary. My grandfather became a carpenter while my grandmother was a housewife. When they had children, they promised them that whatever happens they will try their best to send them to college. My dad is the eldest and as promised he was sent to college. After graduation, he landed to his first job immediately. He was very lucky that he was satisfied with his work that lasted for more than 18 years. My aunt, my dad’s sister took up Nursing in College. Just like my dad, she too is successful in her field. The same thing happened to their youngest sibling. My other aunt is now working abroad reaching her dreams.
Education is the best gift that our parents can pass to us, their children. This March, another cousin is graduating. She took up Nursing too, just like her mom. After graduation, she plans to take her review and board exam after. If God permits, she plans to work abroad. She prefers to work on a nursing home rather than in a hospital. When we tried to search for good ones, we found Gilbert Guide on the list. Base from the Gilbert Guide nursing homes directory, they offer good facilities that can help senior citizens. This is what my cousin is looking for. More than earning, she plan to help the elderly too.
On Friday, when my cousin walks on the stage and receive her diploma my grandfather will truly be the proudest of all the parents and guardians around. For him, the diploma is the fruit of labor for all of us.
