What is your budgeting secret?

Just like Jan, I wouldn't say that I am an expert on this... being an Ilocana, people think that I am 'kuripot' but I would say that there are also times when I like to splurge on things...

To start with, I have a list of the months expenses. I allot a certain percentage of the incoming money for everything that needs to be covered. We prioritize our bills like the amortization of the house, the Internet bill, the electric bill, monthly groceries, G's day to day allowance and savings.

We make a list for our groceries. We only buy what's on the list and we refrain from buying the 'branded' products when we feel that there are locally made items that are competitive naman.

We cook according to our needs. In case we cook more than we can eat, we save it so that we can just re-heat it for other meals.

We recycle. Left-overs are incorporated to a new recipe.

When we go home to the province, we bring cavan of rice when we go back... we save a lot on this :p

We segregate garbage. We sell bakal, lata, newspapers, etc...

We eat out less. Eating in restaurants add up the bills.

We get into sidelines/businesses... anything that we can do for extra money.

We maximize health cards/insurances... we go to the doctor for 'preventive maintenance' and check-ups.
